Thank you Ladies, I knew you would have some clever solutions to my problem
I'll be on 'battle alert' later today ![]() Wendy I do remember Brenda Gardiner, and when I typed the title I had a little smile to myself, as I remembered the Affix. Sue |

Sue, I had the same problem with one of mine, the reflection in the bowl was a good game of "Catch" or more like "Splash!" everywhere
![]() I invested in an electric dog water fountain and it stopped. I bought the "Deluxe Fresh Flow" System on Ebay and its great. I found this model to be the best for many reasons. It gives a constant stream of cool water with a huge tank that keeps my lot going all day, just change to fresh every morning. The variable flow of water keeps it fresh and dirt/hair free which is good especially through the summer months. I change the filter monthly and these are easy to buy. Looking at it now I cant see where or how yours could push or drag this about, its fairly heavy. I also keep a big bowl of water in the garden...the splashing still goes on out there LOL. Alison. |

We have stainless steel bowls with outsides that slope about 45°, a rounded rim and a steeper slope inside. I use them for food bowls, as Hazel is a terror for grabbing her bowl and taking it with her, spilling the food out along the way. These are virtually impossible for the dog to get hold of, and come in several sizes. As we do have a few dogs, I use a water tower for them, and they don‘t bother to try to drag these around. There are two advantages: one is that the drinking part is quite small so there's not much room for them to get feet or ears in, and they are heavy when full. These are all bought in France.

I know quite a few people who swear by these stainless water hole bowls (there is one at the top of the page and a few farther down the page, too)
See Here and I LOVE my spaniel bowl by Cindy Koehring. It weighs a TON and mine has had a few tough kicks without harm. Ears stay dry, and I seriously doubt they could pick it up. I just weighed mine empty and it was 2 1/2 lbs. She has a page of Kennel Bowls, too that are larger sizes. Her website is spanielbowls.com. Pretty tricolor on her home page, too.

Just to let you all know that Mary's suggestion of putting the dog water bowl in a cat litter tray has worked a treat (so far
) I had a couple of spare trays that we use to stack newspapers in so it seemed the simplest solution. Thanks again folks. |

Glad you've solved the problem cheaply, Sue but thanks also for the laughs
. I was sat here imagining a very naughty cavalier with a determined look on its face pulling the bowl for all it was worth ![]() I have invested in some heavy 'spaniel' bowls they work wonderfully at keeping their ears out but Sweepy (as Sandra warned me about Charlies ) comes out of the bowl with a mouthful of water and just proceeds to drip it as he walks.Amazing how much water such a small mouth can hold LOL
