The Mona Lisa is the most copied of all paintings. However, art experts now believe that in paintings done over the past twenty years or so the head has got smaller

Aha, if it WAS Leonardo himself, that would explain the smile.........
:-)

Now I want another trip to Paris! Last time I was there was for the Cavalier club AGM at Aubervilliers, so the travelling wa on the Metro. I hardly got any time to do anything else, but did buy a couple of linen scarves from a street vendor at Montparnasse station. I've not had my pocket picked, touch wood.

In 1999 we had friends over from England who wanted to go to the Championnat, at Longchamp that year. I'd booked us a hotel at La Defense, and my friends wanted to see the Eiffel Tower. It wasn’t a great distance. We all, three adults and three children, crammed into one car with me in the front in the left hand seat, the driver’s seat for a French car! It was a bit hairy, but my friend negotiated the five (give or take a lane or two) lanes around the Arc de Triomph and took the road I'd indicated. Then they left me in the (illegally) parked car while they took photos of the Tower, with a rainbow’s arc above it, and the countdown days to the millennium in lights on the tower itself. Told a friend who lived in Paris for years and she said she had NEVER seen the tower crowned by a rainbow: I have a photo to prove it.

I've been to Paris twice. It's a nice city but I found it a bit hard communicating with people since the French either didn't understand English (or the four other languages I tried) or didn't want to speak it even if they would have understood. Sadly I didn't manage to see Mona Lisa as Louvre was closed during that day. The second time around in Paris I didn't see much at all apart from the airport, but it was still the best trip I've ever made abroad

Oh Virpi,

you must be in a minority: there aren't many people who do a day return trip from Helsinki to Paris oh, I do know someone who did one from Stockholm a week or two before your trip

I am truly glad it worked so well and am extremely pleased at what you have acheived.
