Hi Donna,
I don't know if the AI centre is still there; it was a long time ago and I went on a visit with my Young Farmers' club. I would never have thought of Aberdeen Angus as Hippies! I think of shaggy breeds like that The bull was nice and even tempered, and I would go to his pen and stroke his nose and feed him titbits. When I was about eight I decided to felp feed the cattle in the covered yard, and struggled with half a bale of hay intending to put it in a manger. Somehow I manaed to get between a cow and her calf, and it is true that a cow can be more dangerous than a bull. She came at me head up, and caught me on the pelvis with her head and threw me against the wall. Luckily, she then returned to her calf. I had no broken bones, but bruises everywhere and literally crawled out of the yard. I didn't get much sympathyfrom my parents as "I should have known not to go in with the cattle on my own" and have, ever since, been VERY wary of breef breed cattle. Some dairy cattle cows aren't that nice: I think I read that some actually trampled a walker to death somewhere in the UK? Don't like sheep - stupid and get horrible diseases, but pigs are great and very intelligent. ![]() Jane |

Trust you LMAO
The Aberdeen Angus you narna! Jeez I saw enough hippies to last me a lifetime when I lived in Somerset - we could walk to the Glasto festival from where we lived so you can imagine the stragglers that seemed to stay on LOL.Jane, I agree about the cows. I would never dream of entering a field where a mother was with calf or even expecting as they are extremely territorial . However, we did used to ride the dairy cows from the field to the milkshed LOL. Dairy cows seem to be quite laid back and a bit dippy!Oh and yes, a few people have been killed by cattle in recent years but then who would walk a dog off lead where a large animal has offspring? Durrrrrrrrrrrrrr LOL. Oh and pigs ..... swoon.... I adore them and as much as people say they stink they are not dirty at all. They just like to wallow in mud (protects their skin) and they won't sleep in a dirty bed. I've always wanted a couple of pigs. I used to sit on the wall of the piggery and chat to them when I was little (says it all!). Hubs says when he retires and we move to Pembrokeshire I can have what I want - we'll see! I can see us with a donkey though and of course a few more dogs as we are planning on probably just getting a plot and having something built - hopefully no kids at home by then and we'll be able to afford it!
